Sony releases update for PlayStation 4 allowing you to download pre-ordered games early
It is official. Sony will be releasing a major updates for the PlayStation 4 console on April 30, which will bring some much-needed new features to the PS4. Sony launched PS4 in November last year and in India, the console is priced at Rs 39,990.
In a post on its blog, Sony has listed features that will come with the update. One of the major improvements is that games can now play pre-ordered games as soon as they are available. What this means is that those who have pre-ordered games can download and play few days before their physical release. “We’ve had a great response from PS4 fans about the Play as You Download feature, the snappy load times when launching and playing games, and the general speed and responsiveness of the UI. The 1.70 update adds features to build on this idea and make it faster to play the games you pre-order with an auto pre-download capability.”
Other improvements are seen in the video editing app, SHAREfactory. This update will enable the PS4 gamers to combine captured video clips of their gameplay, add some visual effects and music to it, to make a complete video package. The app can also be used to add commentary, text and stickers to the final video. The v1.70 update will let the gamers share their video on Facebook, upload them anywhere as well as save them on external HDD. Gamers will also be able to record gameplay videos directly from the HDMI output by turning off HDCP.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 has been a great success so far, and has more than met the company’s sales forecast. Earlier this month, Sony announced it had sold over 7 million units, beating its generational rival Xbox One.
