Elections 2014: Here comes the Modi-inspired version of 2048

After the launch of Modi Run, which is a Temple Run inspired game featuring Modi, there’s another Modi game that has come online, which is an unapologetic knock off of the latest mobile gaming craze – the number matching game, 2048. This one is called KYC 2048 and is on the website KnowYourCandidate.

The objective of the game is to ‘join the life events of Narendra Modi and get him to PM seat’ The game follows the exact same format as 2048, and users have to rely on arrow keys to swipe the tiles up and down.

You have to merge similar tiles to complete the game. The tiles include A picture of cutting chai, because you know Modi was a chaiwallah as a teen, followed by RSS, BJP, Modi as Gujarat CM, Elections 2014, the India Against Corruption Movement and finally Modi as PM.

Of course, you wonder why India Against Corruption features as a tile in a game based on Modi. The more charitable explanation could be that the game creators just needed another tile and decided to add this one instead of going for something more appropriate. However this could also very well be a ploy to take on the Aam Aadmi Party and its candidate Arvind Kejriwal who is contesting against Modi from Varanasi. Although Kejriwal is not a part of IAC, he is definitely a product of the movement. By claiming the anti-corruption movement for Modi and the BJP, the party is then negating the plank that AAP is contesting from.

Given the game’s objective is to get Modi to win, it’s not surprising that there are no tiles for Godhra 2002, or one on Snoopgate. Maybe they could have functioned as a negative tiles.

As far as the execution of the game is concerned, it’s not very smooth and if you have a small screen, you can’t really see the full board while you’re playing. The pictures do look a little pixilated as well but the game responds fairly quickly to the arrow key commands.

You can check out the game here. We’re waiting to see when this one hits mobiles as it appears to be a desktop only thing for now.
