HTC ‘One M8 Ace’ with Galaxy S5-like specs and plastic body breaks cover
HTC might soon unveil mid-range Android smartphone with a plastic body. The company recently launched the high-end One M8 along with couple of other smartphones for the Indian market. And even though the M8 is an excellent smartphone, its price makes it not for just about every one. So it seems that the Taiwanese company does not want to just cater to the premium segment.
Engadget reports HTC’s next offering, apparently called One M8 Ace, will come with a plastic body rather than a premium aluminium body. It also states that the specs of this phone will be more or less like the Samsung Galaxy S5. It’s said to have a 5-inch full HD display and a Snapdragon 801 SoC. The phone was earlier leaked by noted tipster Evleaks, so we do have an idea of how it will look.
Engadget adds that the M8 Ace will be “much more affordable, which could pose a huge threat to Samsung if true.”

It would be certainly interesting to see a smartphone with premium features that comes with plastic body, especially given HTC’s design track record. Our only hope is that HTC ditches the UltraPixel camera this time around, given the not so great reviews even the second time around.
Samsung’s S5 is loaded with top-notch features, with a stunning camera and display, but the company is facing criticism again for going with a plastic body. And even though M8 is getting all the praise in the design department, HTC is looking to emulate the Samsung way. The reasoning is simple: the low cost to mid-range segment is the fastest growing, which Samsung has tapped in to well for some time. But given the huge size of the market, HTC also want its share of the lucrative pie.
