New Piaggio Vespa Sprint launched above LX and S variant (42 Photos)
Sporty in stance and stylish in appearance is the new 2014 Piaggio Vespa Sprint, an automatic scooter, which has been launched in Italy. 2014 Vespa Sprint offers much better riding comfort and handling as compared to the existing LX125 and S variants in the Vespa line-up, thanks to the stiffer and lower body.
Vespa Sprint is inspired from the 1960′s Vespa 50 scooter. It receives some sporty and stylish updates that not only enhances its appearance but also augments its performance. Launched in Italy, the 2014 Piaggio Vespa Sprint sports a new rectangular shaped headlight cluster while its front end is more angular. Its dashboard has also been modified while a new instrument cluster with analogue speedometer and digital read out has been incorporated into its design.
Sporting a number of features from the 50, the Sprint features new 12” alloy wheels which not only add to its appeal but also offers better handling facilities. Two disc piston calipers in front, lower saddle and new front suspension setup are also part of its makeup along with chrome wing mirrors.
Built to offer a relaxed ride, the new Vespa Sprint has a large under-seat space of 16.6 liters. Thanks to its lower and redesigned chassis, Sprint is much better as far as handling and ride comfort is concerned. It has a ground clearance of 79 cms. The new chassis is also stiffer and lighter as compared to the one in Vespa LX125 or Vespa S, both of which are now available in India.
Vespa Sprint from Piaggio is powered by a 125cc air cooled single cylinder, 3 valve engine with electronic injection. This engine is capable of 11.6 hp power and is quite fuel efficient offering around 60 kmpl and a top speed of 100 kmph. It is also being offered in 50cc 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine options and colors of vintage yellow, blue, white, red and black. Pricing of the 125cc variant is at €4,000 (INR 3.30 lakhs). Nothing has been said about its India launch as of now.
