Jaguar lacks full-grownSUVsin its stable, with just one full-size SUV on offing, C-X17, internally known as ‘sports crossover’ will be the second such SUV. With the launch of new vehicles, including C-X17, the company eyes accelerating its annual sales to above 200,000 units. Jaguar is expected to work more on the stance of the SUV, to suffice full-size semblance, we expect the company to make amendments to the under development vehicle. Jaguar will metamorphose C-X17 into a full-size SUV by the time it is due for launch, ample tracks, enhanced wheelbase and stretched rear overhang will bestow the perfect look to the vehicle.
The SUV is expected to flaunt enhanced dimensions, including an overall length of 4.7m, as compared to its concept version, glimpse of which were seen last year. Under the hood, Jaguar could house aIngeniumfour-cylinder gasoline and diesel motors from JLR’s engine line-up. Low end variants of the SUV could be proffered in rear wheel drive form to deliver increased fuel efficiency, aimed at certain markets. C-X17 will face-off with Porsche’sMacanSUV, however rumours opine that C-X17 will be more spacious and longer thanMacan. The all aluminium structure of C-X17 will enable to confine weight below Macan’s 1865 kg, at least we expect it to do so.Placement of engine at the nose of front bonnet will further help car maker to disseminate weight properly.
Full-sizeSUVsseem to have caught fancy of luxury car makers across the globe. Besides Jaguar, other car makers are also contemplating developing full-grownSUVs. BMW too recently made an announcement regarding its first full-size SUV, X7, production of X7 is expected to commence from 2016 at its Spartanburg plant.
