The Dash smart headphones a Kickstarter sensation

Kickstarter campaigns have supported the production of some excellent new products so far and ‘The Dash’ smart headphones have so far been a sensation. The device developed by German firm BRAGI gives the wearer an extensive range of features beyond music, and has already smashed its donation target.

The Dash was looking to raise $260,000 and at the time of writing has already raised just short of $1.2 million! This incredible backing has amassed some 5800 investors and there are still 44 days to go until the funding project ends. We have seen some successful Kickstarter campaigns and some flops but this is certainly one of the more memorable ones so far.

You may be wondering why these headphones have been backed so positively? Firstly they are completely wireless and the music you listen to is played from within the in ear headphones themselves, with a real focus on sports use. The Dash gives an internal storage capacity of 4 GB and a battery life of around 3 hours, all you need is your headphones, no phone or other device involved.

The Dash is an all action device which works in all kinds of conditions, most notably underwater; we saw Sony advertise their waterproof headphones earlier this week by selling them in bottles of water! Your wire free headphones will also cancel out or enhance sounds for you with the passive noise isolation, audio transparency and ear bone microphone features.

The focus on fitness which many companies are concentrating on is present with The Dash, performance and body tracking are both included and provide you with real time voice feedback on elements such as: Time, speed, distance, cadence, heart rate, oxygen saturation and energy spent.
